May 1st: International Labor Day or May Day
This day is celebrated globally every year. In India, it is also referred to as Antarrashtriya Shramik Diwas or Kamgar Din.

This is Maharashtra Diwas in Marathi. There is a state holiday on this day in Maharashtra.

8th May: World Red Cross day
This is the birth anniversary of the founder of the Red Cross, Henry Dunant.
8th May: World Thalassaemia Day
This day is observed every year in honor of patients suffering from this disease.
8th May: Mother’s day (2nd Sunday of May)
Mother’s day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May to celebrate motherhood.
9th May: Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti
The day of Baisakh, the 25th, overlaps with either the 8th or 9th of May on the Gregorian calendar. In other states, as per the Gregorian calendar, it is celebrated on the 7th of May.
12th May: International Nurses Day
Every year, this day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Florence Nightingale.
15th May: International Day of Families

16th May: Buddha Jayanti or Buddha Purnima
It is believed that Buddha was born on the full moon of the month of Vaisakhi.
