The govt. will develop a national database to monitor hawala transactions, terrorist activities, and terrorist funding.
The Union Home minister Amit Shah said that the government will develop a national database to monitor hawala transactions, terrorist activities, terrorist funding, and others. He further said that the government under the leadership of Narendra Modi has had a zero-tolerance policy for terrorism from the very first day. They will continue to maintain their record by developing a new database. Amit Shah said this after he inaugurated the National Intelligence Grid (Natagrid) in Bangaluru.
This is what the database will do
Shah said that this database that they will develop will help the legal and intelligence agencies monitor counterfeit currency, bomb threats, narcotics, illegal arms smuggling, and other terrorist activities. Once the database is ready, data analytics and Information technology will bring about a paradigm shift in their functioning. Datagrid will be able to link the data sources in the long run.
The security requirements today have changed a lot in comparison to the challenges that were faced earlier, in terms of scope, data, and complexity. Shah further added that there is a need for security and legal agencies to get automated and secured. Immediate access to information has to be made available.
There will be an inbuilt mechanism in Natagrid for a continuous up-gradation. Moreover, there will also be a study group formed so that a database for the modus operandi of the crimes committed in India will be recorded.
