BCCI takes the first step towards gender equality
- In a move to bring about pay parity, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) reconstituted apex council has decided to match the match fees of international women cricketers with that of their male counterparts.
- The BCCI said in a statement on Thursday, women’s cricketers would be paid ₹ 15 lakh, ₹ 6 lahks and ₹3 lakh for Tests, ODIs and T20Is respectively.
- The revision is at least a threefold hike, with the match fees for Tests rising six times over the existing ₹2.5 lakh.
