- National Milk Day is celebrated on 26th November every year to signify the importance and benefits of milk. Milk day is a special day that is observed to spread awareness among people about the importance and need for milk.
- National Milk Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, who is also known as the ‘Father of White Revolution’.
- The day was chosen as the National Milk Day by the dairy majors of the country including the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), the Indian Dairy Association (IDA), along with the milk federation of 22 states.
- The Indian Dairy Association took the initiative of celebrating National Milk Day for the first time in 2014.
India celebrates Constitution Day on 26th November
- India celebrates Constitution Day, or National Law Day, every year on November 26 as it marks the day the Indian Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
- It was in 2015 when the Government of India decided to establish November 26 as Constitution Day to advance "constitutional values among residents".
- The day was declared in the year which marked the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constitution.
- Constitution Day is also known as Samvidhan Divas. After India became an independent country, the Constituent Assembly entrusted the job of drafting the Constitution to a committee chaired by Dr BR Ambedkar. Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, was the President of the Constituent Assembly, which was established in 1946.
Sangeet Natak Akademi announces Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the years 2019, 2020 & 2021
- Sangeet Natak Akademi selected one hundred and twenty-eight (128) artists from the field of Music, Dance, Theatre, Traditional/Folk/Tribal Music/Dance/Theatre, Puppetry and Overall contribution/scholarship in the Performing Arts for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) for the years 2019, 2020 & 2021.
- The eminent artists cover the entire gamut of the performing arts such as vocal music, both Hindustani and Carnatic; instrumental music, both Hindustani and Carnatic including Flute, Sitar and Mridangam; Sugam Sangeet as well as Harikatha; the major forms of Indian dance such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Sattriya, Mohiniattam as well as Contemporary Dance; the different specializations of theatre such as playwriting, direction, acting, make-up, lighting, stage design; the other major traditions of theatre like Isai Natakam; the folk and tribal arts as well as the arts of puppetry and instrument making.
- The honour of Akademi Fellow carries a purse money of Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakh) while the Akademi Award carries a purse money of Rs 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh), besides a Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
MoS Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar Inaugurates Digital India Start up Hub at STPI, Davanagere in Karnataka
- The Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar today inaugurated a Digital India start-up hub at the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centre at Davanagere, Karnataka.
- The STPI, Davangere will soon usher in new opportunities for jobs and entrepreneurships for the people in the region. It will be ensured that every Young Indian gets an opportunity to participate in the India Techade initiatives taken by the Government.
- This is the 63rd STPI centre in the country and the fifth in the Karnataka.
Railways creates a road map to export Vande Bharat trains
- The Ministry of Railways is readying a roadmap to start export of the indigenously manufactured Vande Bharat trains by2025-26.
- The ecosystem to export trains has to be created over the next two to three years. We are on track to manufacture 475 Vande Bharat trains in the next three years.
- The railways, in association with global firms, is working to develop ‘tilting trains’ — which can run on curved tracks without slowing down — by2025-26.
