Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurates north India’s first data centre at Greater Noida
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated North India’s first hyper-scale data centre Yotta Yotta D1 built at the cost of Rs 5,000 crore and spread over an area of 3,00,000 square feet at the upcoming Data Centre Park in Greater Noida.
- Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 39,000 crore were also signed between the Yogi Government and Hiranandani Group to be spent on projects in the next five years on the occasion.
- The data centre will increase the data storage capacity of the country, which until now stood at two percent only despite the fact that 1.5 billion mobile phones and 650 million internet users in the world are from India using 20 per cent of data. Yet for storage of data, we had to look for centres abroad.
UP’s Ranipur Tiger Reserve Becomes 53rd Tiger Reserve of India
- Uttar Pradesh is set to have its fourth Tiger Reserve and 53rd tiger reserve in India.
- The tiger reserve is spread across over 529.36 sq km out of which the core area is 230.32 sq km and the buffer area is 299.05 sq km. Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate change Bhupendra Yadav confirmed the development.
- Ranipur Tiger Reserve is covered by northern tropical dry deciduous forests and is home to mammals like mega fauna tiger, leopard, bear, spotted deer, sambhar, and chinkara among others.
- Apart from Ranipur, Uttar Pradesh has three tiger reserves, Dudhwa, Pilibhit, and Amangarh.
Giridhar Aramane takes charge as Defence Secretary
- Giridhar Aramane, a 1988batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, assumed charge as the Defence Secretary on Tuesday.
- “In his 32 years of experience, Mr. Aramane has held various important portfolios in the Central governmentand Andhra Pradesh government,” a Ministry statement said.
- Prior to his current assignment, he was Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
- He was earlier Additional Secretary inthe Cabinet Secretariat and had also looked after the Exploration Division in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and was Executive Director in charge of inspections in the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA).
10 additional judges for Punjab and Haryana HC
- The Centre on Tuesday notified the appointment of 10 additional judges to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Of these, nine are from the lower judiciary, while one is a lawyer. Five of those appointed are women.
- Kuldeep Tiwari, lawyer and Additional Advocate General of Haryana; and Sanjiv Berry, Registrar General of the High Court are among those appointed.
- Other judicial officers are Gurbir Singh, Deepak Gupta, Amarjot Bhatti, Ritu Tagore, Manisha Batra, Harpreet Kaur Jeewan, Sukhvinder Kaurand Vikram Aggarwal. The strength of the court reached 66 against a sanctioned strength of 85.
Modi calls for road map to develop Mangarh Dham as a global tribal destination
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for preparing a road map to develop Mangarh Dham in Rajasthan’s Banswara district as a tribal destination with a prominent identity at the global level.
- Mangarh Dham, situated near the Rajasthan Gujarat boundary, is known for the massacre of tribe’s people by the British Indian Armyin 1913.
- Nearly 1,500 Bhil tribal sand forest dwellers were killed in a hill in Mangarh on November 17, 1913, when the British Indian Army opened fire on the protesters who were demanding abolition of bonded labour system and relaxation in heavy agricultural taxes imposed by the rulers of princely states. The tribes in the southern Rajasthan region were led by Govind Guru.
