Imran Khan begins a ‘long march’ for early Pak. Election
- Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan launched a so-called “long march” on Friday in the capital Islamabad to demand early elections, piling pressure on a government already in crisis.
- The former international cricket star was booted from office in April by a no-confidence vote after defections by some of his coalition partners. Still, he retains mass public support in the South Asian country.
- Thousands of people gathered in the eastern city of Lahore, from where a convoy began the 380km journey to the capital, expected to take around a week with rallies planned along the route.

- Hawaii officials are warning residents of the Big Island that the world's largest active volcano, Mauna Loa, is sending signals that it may erupt.
- Scientists say an eruption isn't imminent, but they are on alert because of a recent earthquake spike at the volcano's summit.
- Experts say it would take just a few hours for lava to reach homes closest to vents on the volcano, which last erupted in 1984.
