Women’s FIH Nations Cup: India beats Spain in final
- India are the champions of the inaugural FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup Spain 2022, narrowly defeating hosts in the final in Valencia, Spain on Saturday.
- Playing in a heavyweight clash against Spain, Gurjit Kaur stepped up early and gave India the lead from a penalty corner in the sixth minute and that would be the only goal to be scored in the match as the defences for both teams took over.
- Player of the match was awarded to Neha, who was crucial for India in releasing the pressure allowing them to hold the lead for 54 minutes.
Argentina defeats France in epic World Cup final following penalty kicks
- Argentina won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and lifted the trophy becoming champions for the third time in history.
- Players looked ecstatic as they celebrated the win, following a penalty shootout that saw Argentina triumphing 4-2 on spot-kicks after a 3-3 draw after extra time.
- Lionel Messi finally achieved his lifelong dream by emulating his hero Diego Maradona and winning the World Cup for his country, after failing to find the net in that 1-0 defeat in Brazil eight years ago.
- The fight to be the top scorer of the Qatar 2022 World Cup ended with KylianMbappe winning the Golden Boot. He scored 8 goals.
