Govt. proposes to revamp National Informatics Centre
Nearly half a century since it came into existence, the government is now looking to revamp and restructure the National Informatics Centre (NIC) — it’s the technology arm — to help the organisation keep pace with the growing need for digital technologies in the country.
The Centre has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for selection of a consultant for NIC’s organisational restructuring.
The NIC comes under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and it was established in 1976 with the objective to provide technologydriven solutions to the Central and State Governments.
AFSPA extended in Nagaland, Arunachal
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland for another six months.
The ministry said in a notification that Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts in Arunachal Pradesh and the areas falling within the jurisdiction of Namsai and Mahadevpur police stations in Namsai district along the Assam border, are declared as ‘disturbed area’ under Section 3 of the AFSPA 1958 for a period of six months from October 1.”
The ministry said nine districts and 16 police stations in four districts of Nagaland were being declared as “disturbed areas” after a review of the law-and-order situation in the State.
U.S. imposes sanction against Indian petrochemical company for ‘clandestine’ Iran oil purchases
U.S. Treasury department announced it had imposed sanctions against a Mumbai based petrochemical company amongst several entities accused of selling Iranian petroleum products.
The U.S. claimed that the Indian company had worked with sanctioned entities like Triliance, a petroleum and petrochemical brokerage firm, as well as Iran Chemical Industries Investment Company and Middle East Kimiya Pars Co., for oil orders which were “ultimately shipped to India”.
The Iranian embassy said it had no knowledge of any Indian company that was “registered to deal with such businesses”.

Gandhinagar-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express train on September 30, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi waved off in Gandhinagar. PM Modi is in Gujarat for two days.
This is the third Vande Bharat train in the nation; the first two run between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Varanasi and New Delhi, respectively.
Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express is a 16-coach train, which can accommodate 1,128 passengers, will stop at Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad stations before arriving in Gandhinagar.
