Ladakh MP launched the “Main Bhi Subhash” campaign
- Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal launched the ‘Main Bhi Subhash’ campaign from Leh.
- The ‘Main Bhi Subhash’ campaign is a series of events which is organized by the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose INA Trust in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
- The ‘Main Bhi Subhash’ campaign is going to be organized on the 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji on 23rd January next year.
- The ‘Main Bhi Subhash’ campaign begins in Mumbai and Kolkata.
U.P. promotes tombs of Muslim devotees of Krishna for tourism
- Uttar Pradesh government is focussing on creating Krishna Janmabhoomi as a major pilgrim tourist destination in the State. The redevelopment of the burial sites Raskhan and Taj Bibi, arguably the two most famous Muslim devotees of Lord Krishna has been prioritised.
- A 14-acre complex has been developed around the two hitherto neglected tombs. The total cost of the project was around ₹10 crore.
- The decision had been taken “keeping in mind the discussion around communal amity in the country nowadays”.
- Raskin, or Syed Ibrahim Khan, was a 16th-century Sufi Muslim poet born either in Amroha or Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. He became a follower of Krishna and spent his life in Vrindavan.
- Taj Bibi, also known as the ‘Mughal Mirabai’, was the daughter of a Muslim nobleman, appointed by the Mughals to protect the Gokul area.
Record yield of vegetables, and fruits expected in 202122
- The Union government expects a record production of 342.33 million tonnes of fruits and vegetables in 202122. It is an increase of about 7.73 million tonnes (2.3%) over the production in 202021.
- The area of cultivation could increase to 28.08 million hectares from 27.48 million hectares in 202021, according to the third advance estimate of the area and production of various horticultural crops for 202122 released on Thursday.
- Potato and tomato production is estimated to have declined. Potato production is pegged at 53.39 million tonnes against 56.17 million tonnes last season, while tomato yield is estimated to be 20.33 million tonnes as against 21.18 million tonnes in 202021.
S. Jaishankar to visit Moscow on Nov. 8
- External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will hold talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in Moscow on November 8, the Russian Embassy announced on Thursday.
- “The Ministers will discuss the current state of bilateral relations and the international agenda,” the embassy said.
- Mr Jaishankar met Mr Lavrov last month on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s annual session.
- This visit is significant as it is the first visit by the Minister to Moscow since the beginning of the war in Ukraine in February.
- India and Russia have maintained a high-level dialogue since the beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
PM to lay foundation stone for C295 aircraft plant in Gujarat on October 30
- A manufacturing facility for C295 transport aircraft will be set up at Vadodara in Gujarat by Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL) in partnership with European aviation major Airbus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the plant on October 30.
- Of the 56 C295 aircraft to be procured by India as per a ₹21,935crore deal, 40 will be built at this facility. These will replace the legacy Avro aircraft in service with the Indian Air Force (IAF).
- C295 is an aircraft of 510 tonne capacity used for tactical transport of up to 71 passengers or 50 paratroopers, and for logistic operations to locations that are not accessible by current heavier aircraft. It can operate from short or unprepared airstrips.
