PM inaugurated two new Metro lines in Mumbai
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that while the world’s biggest economies were in turmoil, India was providing subsidies and free rations to over 80 crore citizens.
- He was speaking at the inauguration of two new Mumbai Metro lines — Line 2A (Dahisar to Andheri West D.N. Nagar) and Line 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri East), the PM SVANidhi Yojana (a loan facility for street vendors); and ‘Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana’ clinics that will provide essential medical services.
- Mr. Modi also laid the foundation stone for seven sewage treatment plants to be built at a cost of ₹17,200 crore and the redevelopment of three hospitals.
Army to get first Apache attack helicopter in Feb. 2024
- The first fuselage for the Indian Army’s contract for six AH64E Apache attack helicopters hasrolled out of the Tata Boeing Aerospace Ltd.(TBAL) facility in Hyderabad, the joint venturebetween Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. and the aircraft manufacturer Boeing.
- The first Apache is scheduled to be delivered to the Army inFebruary 2024. Training of Army pilots and technicians has commenced in the U.S. last December, a defence official said.
- The first fuselage was handed over to the Director General of Army Aviation, Lt. Gen. A.K. Suri, before it was dispatched by the TBAL to Arizona in the U.S. for final assembly.
PM Modi Inaugurated Second Phase of Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second phase of Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 via video conferencing.
- Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 has been organized in Basti district, Uttar Pradesh by Harish Dwivedi, Member of Parliament from Basti since 2021.
- The Khel Mahakumbh includes various competitions in both indoor and outdoor sports like wrestling, kabaddi, khokho, basketball, football, hockey, volleyball, handball, chess, carrom, badminton, table tennis, etc.
- There are several other competitions including essay writing, painting, rangoli making, etc are also organized during the Khel Mahakumbh.
J&K Becomes First Indian UT to Completely Shift to e-Governance Mode
- Jammu & Kashmir becomes the first union territory in India to completely switch to a digital method of administration, leading the way in the digital transformation of governance.
- All governmental and administrative services in Jammu & Kashmir are currently only offered digitally.
- The declaration was made during the meeting of the Committee of Secretaries. Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta instructed the commissioner of IT during the meeting to make sure that all government services would only be accessible online.
- The UT administration constituted a ‘Coordination Cell’ for monitoring the progress of the implementation of online services in Jammu and Kashmir.
